Ditch the plastic shampoo bottles with the beautiful, natural Wild Sage and Co Rosemary and Lavender Shampoo Bar. The relaxing and refreshing Lavender and Rosemary blend helps to combat dandruff, improve scalp health and promote hair growth. Suitable for all skin types, this plastic free shampoo bar is wrapped in recycled paper which can be composted.
The shampoo bars are handmade using the cold process method. They each have their own, unique blend of skin loving plant and nut oils.
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar has been added to this shampoo bar as it is close to your hairs natural PH and using it topically helps hair follicles to lie flat, softening the hair and creating a natural shine. Contains Rapeseed Oil, a light oil that penetrates deep into the hair shaft, moisturising from the inside out and Mango Butter, a deeply nutritious and moisturising oil keeps hair healthy, allowing it to repair while promoting growth. The Organic Rosemary Infused Extra Olive Oil is full of antioxidants to fight free radicals, and the infused Rosemary encourages hair growth.
SWITCHING TO A SHAMPOO BAR
Because commercial detergent shampoo strips your hair of its natural oils, your scalp has to produce excess oil to compensate. This means that there is often an adjustment period after swapping to a natural shampoo. During this period your hair may feel greasy or heavy, however this should pass after a week or so when your hair has rebalanced its oil production. (This period may take longer if you have chemically treated hair).
There is also the problem of product build up from commercial shampoos and conditioners which often contain waxes, synthetic silicones, and silica that coat your hair, to make it "feel" nice, but leave a residue in your hair. See our Baking Soda solution to help tackle this problem.
There are however a couple of things you can try to get your hair feeling luscious faster.
Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse
Add 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar to a cup of warm water and use this to rinse your hair after shampooing. Some people may need to change the quantities of Apple Cider Vinegar used depending on their needs.
Some people suggest adding a teaspoon of baking soda to a pint of warm water and using this to wash your hair. It is said to make the water feel softer, allowing your shampoo bar to produce a better lather.
We do not suggest that you use baking soda and a vinegar rinse at the same time, as these two ingredients will react with one another.
Please always make sure you have rinsed your hair thoroughly after shampooing.
HOW TO USE
To use the shampoo bar just wet your hair thoroughly and rub the bar over your head until you create a nice foamy lather. If your bar is new you might want to use a flannel to help ‘break the seal’. Wash your hair as normal, taking care to rinse out thoroughly before patting dry and adding conditioner. Why not pair with our Lavender + Rose Geranium Hair Conditioner with Organic Broccoli oil.
Looking after your Shampoo Bar
As these hand crafted shampoo bars have no chemical preservatives, they deserve a little bit of attention to keep them happy and prolong their lives.
When you are not using your shampoo bar it's best to keep it out of water on a well drained surface so that it completely dries between uses. Use a soap dish (wooden dishes with open slats are perfect) or you could even be a bit creative and use a few pebbles from the garden. This will help make it last so you can get the most from your shampoo bar and enjoy feeling naturally fresh and fragrant for as long as possible!
